'˜Breath-taking' Lucy's Roots date

Music fans are invited to enjoy a 'breath-taking example of unique beauty' in Doncaster this week.

Award-winning singer-songwriter Lucy Ward is the latest act to perform at the town’s Roots Music Club.

The 26-year-old from Derby, named best newcomer at the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, performs at the club tomorrow, Friday, June 10.

A club spokesman said: “Lucy’s voice is a breath-taking example of unique beauty.

“Inspired by her roots in the folk tradition, she writes songs about people; she never shies away from the big issues, but also has a knack of singing about the ‘little moments’ that shape and touch us all.

“Her sensitive and mature song writing belies her years.”

Lucy has performed all over the world including two Glastonbury Festival main stages andhas released three albums to widespread critical acclaim.

“She is a warm and vibrant performer with an uncanny ability to make you laugh and cry – a must-see artist.”
