Arts in North Lincolnshire have been boosted by winning prestigious awards.

The cabinet member for asset management, culture and housing, and Axholme North ward Coun John Briggs, has welcomed the recognition and said he was proud of the area’s arts’ achievements.

He said: “Seeing 20-21 Visual Arts Centre receive an award like this is wonderful news. They deserve official recognition for their hard work in providing education away from the classroom. This LOtC award provides 20-21 with a great future. They can establish themselves as a quality provider of learning outside of school.”

The Arts Centre is one of three North Lincolnshire Council venues which have received the highly recognised award and also include the North Lincolnshire Museum and Normanby Hall Country Park.

The Learning Outside the Classroom awards have been issued thanks to the quality of learning experiences which are available to young people outside of the classroom .

Coun Briggs said that thanks to activities such as combining education with art workshops and other long term art projects, even teacher training was now available away from the school environment. In addition to their award the Arts Centre also received LOtC advertising for more workshops.
