Academy of Northern Ballet will be visiting Cast Doncaster tomorrow (January 26) to host an open day for local youngsters interested in pursuing their passion for ballet with professional training.

The open day is the chance for 9–13 year olds from Doncaster and the local region to meet Academy staff and find out more about the training programmes on offer.

The open day will be held from 9.30am to 12.30pm and is open to all experience levels. The session will include the chance to meet staff and talk to teachers, find out more about the training programmes and technique and take part in a taster class.

The Academy of Northern Ballet is the official school of Leeds-based Northern Ballet, one of the UK’s foremost professional ballet companies, and specialises in offering a holistic approach to teaching, nurturing and inspiring the professional dancers of the future. As the only recognised Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) in the UK specialising in Classical Ballet, the Academy of Northern Ballet is hosting an open day in Doncaster to entice young dancers to audition for its professional CAT training programme which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2014.

Graduates from Northern Ballet’s CAT programme have gone on to full-time vocational training at top training schools including the Royal Ballet Upper School, English National Ballet School and Central School of Ballet.

Faye Cardwell, Academy Programmes Manager at Northern Ballet said: “The Academy of Northern Ballet is one of the leading classical ballet training schools in the UK. Our focus is on recognising talent and nurturing our students to give them the technical training and mentoring they need to develop as dancers.

We are holding an open day in Doncaster so that young dancers in the area can find out first-hand about the world-class ballet training available to them in their own county. We want to encourage both 9 - 13 year old boys and girls to come along with their parents to meet us on 26 January to find out about what our different training programmes entail, build their confidence and discover how they can further their passion for ballet.”

In addition to Doncaster, Open Days will also be held in Harrogate (2 Feb) and Leeds (16 Feb). To register for an Open Day or to find out more information please call 0113 220 8000 or email
