Sheffield favourites Milburn reunited for hometown shows

Indie favourites Milburn – Louis Carnall, Tom Rowley, Joe Green and renowned solo artist and Reverend and The Makers bassist Joe Carnall junior – have confirmed two shows at the city’s O2 Academy, on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1.

Promoter Roll Out The Barrel said: “It’s been 10 years since Milburn’s major label debut Well Well Well.

“Now the band, who kick-started the Sheffield revival that would give birth to, among others, Arctic Monkeys and Reverend and The Makers, are back.

“When Milburn parted company eight years ago, it seemed they may be remembered only as an influence on more successful artists still to come – a band’s band perhaps.

“However, over time it became clear this music would not die, stubbornly refusing to take its place in the backwaters of Spotify.

“Instead the songs reached a new generation.

“The Courteeners, Arctic Monkeys and even a One Direction-er fell over themselves to lavish praise on the now defunct four-piece.

“Now thanks to overwhelming public demand Sheffield’s original heroes are back, headlining two massive anniversary shows in their hometown.

“No-one knows what lies ahead, but we’ll see you down the front.”
