A brand new weekly music group led by professional musicians from darts (Doncaster Community Arts) has started for adults in the town.

These fun and supportive sessions, named Creative Directions in Askern, are delivered by talented musicians including Luke Carver Goss, who featured on the award-winning BBC Radio 3 programme, Late Junction.

Creative Directions in Askern offers a range of regular music-based opportunities for local residents every Thursday between 1:30pm and 3:30pm – from song writing to percussion and playing instruments to live performances.

Attendees will get the chance to work with different musicians to create new songs and music pieces that celebrate Askern. No musical experience or knowledge is necessary.

“What this group does is give you the chance to feel included”, said one Creative Directions participant.

“To get together with people and not feel like you’re on your own. We don’t need to be musical prodigies - we’re all just enjoying getting together and experiencing new things”

darts staff will be working closely with local community organisations and events to create live performance opportunities for the Creative Directions in Askern group.

The Creative Directions programme mainly targets adults who may be feeling lonely or who are experiencing mental ill health, although friends, family members and other community members are also welcome to get involved and try something new. Every Thursday 1.30pm – 3.30pm at Alexander House, High Street, Askern.
