James Fenwick scored a brace of tries as Thornensians claimed a 19-10 win at home to Harrogate Pythons to move up to second in Yorkshire Three.
Thorne led 12-5 at the break through tries from Fenwick and captain Stuart Hughes with Rob Brown converting one.
Pythons came back into the game with two tries.
However, Fenwick’s second, converted by Brown, sealed victory in a stop-start game.
Thorne have won eight out of nine league games this season.
Their latest victory kept them hard on the heels of unbeaten league leaders Wetherby.
They travel to Leeds Medics and Dentists this weekend.
Wath on Dearne succumbed to a try in the dying seconds to lose 16-20 to Moortown in Yorkshire Two.
A try from winger Steve Mason and some accurate kicking from Anthony Barratt saw Wath take a 16-13 lead but a converted pushover try from Moortown in the final minute handed them the win.
Rossington Hornets bagged another Yorkshire Five win, this time beating hosts Garforth 26-19.
