WHEATLEY Hills lost 31-29 in a dramatic North One East clash at Old Crossleyans on Saturday.
The lead changed hands several times but the West Yorkshire outfit snatched a late try to give them victory.
Guy Townsley kicked three penalties and centre Mike Hayward touched down as Wheatley opened up a 14-7 half time lead.
Crossleyans hit back with a converted try and penalty to go 17-14 ahead but Hills regained the advantage when winger Christopher Blessed touched down.
Townsley added his fourth penalty shortly after to put the visitors five points ahead but the home side scored on 72 minutes to take a narrow 24-22 lead.
Ian Barker scored Wheatley’s final try and Townsley converted to turn the tables again, but the final blow came when the hosts scored a late converted try.
