Hill House School’s under-15 rugby team have reached the last 16 of the prestigious Natwest Vase.
They have already knocked Mount St Marys, Silcoates School and Pocklington School out of the 250-team competition and face Stockport Grammar School in the ‘biggest game in the school’s history’ this week.
Among the squad, Hatfield’s Jack Bodman, Tom Kell, from Tickhill, and Faraaz Anjum, from Bessacarr, have represented Yorkshire U15s, while Ciaran Gaffney, from Auckley, is part of Yorkshire Carnegie’s academy programme.
The team are coached by Doncaster Knights star Jamie Lennard and Yorkshire Carnegie U18 coach Kerry Wood.
Director of sport Martin Webdale said: “The whole squad have worked extremely hard over the course of the season. They came back to school early for pre-season training and this extra work really paid off with some excellent early season wins over Worksop College, Hymers College from Hull and Birkdale School from Sheffield amongst others.
“The squad has some very talented young players but the whole group have grown both as players and young men in recent months.
“We know that Stockport Grammar School are an excellent side with a very strong rugby tradition, but we will prepare to the best of our ability and keep on enjoying the journey.”
