Castle Park may no longer play host to Championship rugby week in week out following Doncaster Knights’ relegation to National One.

But this weekend the Armthorpe Road venue is the setting for exactly that - as the RFU’s second tier launches with an opening day with a difference.

Castle Park will host a Championship double-header on Saturday as part of a festival of rugby at three neutral venues across the country.

Rotherham Titans play Moseley at 1pm, followed by Nottingham Rugby against Leeds Carnegie at 3.15pm.

Championship double-headers will also take place at Saracens’ Allianz Park and Exeter’s Sandy Park.

The Greene King IPA Big Rugby Weekend forms part of the 23-round league season, with points counting towards the club’s final league standing.

Ticket prices range from £10 to £20, with concessions available. A match ticket will grant access to both matches on the day, meaning supporters can watch two Championships games for a maximum cost of £20.
