Yorkshire Two leaders Doncaster Phoenix extended their lead in Yorkshire Two when they came from behind to beat mid-table Bradford Salem.

Phoenix went ahead with the first of two penalty goals by Dan Storey, but Salem claimed the first try of the match to lead 10-6 ahead at the half-time break.

But Phoenix took control after the restart, with tries from winger Dan Greenslade and No 8 Ryan Peacey, both converted by Storey, for a 20-16 victory.

Thornesians, meanwhile, were left dejected after going down 24-10 at Northallerton in Yorkshire Three - effectively ending their hopes of promotion.

Although Thorne were missing several key players for the trip to Northallerton, several dubious refereeing decisions ended any hope they had of victory.

After going 17-0 down, Thorne got off the mark with stand-off Tom Holt touching down on 50 minutes and adding the conversion himself, while centre Olly Cox kicked a penalty five minutes later to make it 17-10.

But the hosts scored a third try with ten minutes remaining to secure the win and leave Thorne without even a losing bonus point.

Wheatley Hills’ clash with Middlesbrough was postponed due to snow.
