Wheatley Hills, former leaders of the North One East table, slipped further off the pace when they lost 17-13 at home to Sheffield.

Wheatley slipped to third place in the league after the defeat, despite leaders Beverley also losing at Cleckheaton.

Wath on Dearne, meanwhile, held on to their third place in Yorkshire Division One when they scraped a 15-14 win in their local derby clash at Barnsley.

Wath had scored a convincing 38-15 home win in October, but this was a more even game and flanker Joe Earp scored the winning try on 76 minutes.

Doncaster Phoenix maintained their advantage at the top of Yorkshire Two with a 28-10 home win over Hullensians.

Phoenix rattled in four converted tries on their way to victory.

Ryan Pilley was the star man as Thornesians beat local rivals Rotherham Phoenix 29-10.

Pilley bagged two tries, and James Fenwick, Danny Pearce and Gareth Sutton also got in on the scoring. The boot of Oli Cox made two conversions.

Mark Steadman was in sparkling form as Doncaster Amateurs beat Wensleydale 48-5 in Yorkshire Five on Saturday.

Adwick le Street, meanwhile, went down 38-17 at home against Wibsey in the same league.
