Doncaster Knights have been promoted to the Championship after winning at Blackheath.
Knights celebrated clinching the National One title after their 38-20 victory in London.
Today’s win marked the culmination of a really gritty effort from Clive Griffiths’ men to bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking - the first time any team has achieved that feat since the second tier was rebranded in 2009.
Although they had their problems away from home, Doncaster finished the season with a one hundred per cent home record and topped the table for the majority of a demanding campaign.
They went into the final round of matches knowing that any slip-up would in all likelihood see them pipped at the post by Rosslyn Park.
Indeed, Park beat Cinderford 52-17 in their final game - but it proved irrelevant as Doncaster sealed the title in style.
The promotion party is expected to be in full swing at Castle Park on Tuesday night when Knights host their annual end of season dinner.
