After conceding three early penalties Phoenix were always playing catch-up.

A Smith try on 25 minutes looked to have started a recovery but, in trying to get back on terms, errors were forced and Bournville ran in two converted tries to take a half time lead of 23-5.

Another Phoenix offence lead to a Bournville penalty in front of the home posts following the re-start.

Phoenix tried to run hard at the Midlands opposition but they were disciplined in defence and going forward were well marshalled by man of the match fly-half Mitch Menagan.

Another loose pass was capitalised upon by the visitors resulting in a converted try on the hour mark.

However, it was the home side who finished strongest with two further tries for Smith, one converted by winger Sam Nunn.

Phoenix have this weekend off and hope to have several injured players available for the next game at third-placed Bridgnorth.
