Colin Phillips and on-loan Leeds Carnegie fly half Joe Barker are poised to make full debuts for Doncaster Knights at Hull Ionians this afternoon (3pm).
The pair were both named in the Knights team announced yesterday - although that selection is not set in stone.
Prop Phillips replaces Ross Davies who sustained an ankle injury in last weekend’s 47-17 win over Blackheath.
Barker is in line to fill in for Paul Roberts who drops to the bench after picking up a knock in training.
Mat Clark again links up with Bevon Armitage in the middle, with Glenn Bryce and Dougie Flockhart out wide. Adam Tamanis continues to deputise for Tom Davies.
Director of rugby Clive Griffiths is predicting that plenty of Knights games in National One will follow the same pattern as last Saturday’s win over Blackheath, in which the opposition started strongly but Knights’ extra quality and fitness told in the end.
Griffiths said: “We know we’ll be in an arm-wrestle in the early stages of each game but if we come out of the other end, like we did against Blackheath, we’ll be okay.
“Apart from one or two games, I think that’ll be the picture every week.
“We’re going to go to some places and win by a big score,” he added.
“With others, we’re going to have to learn to be more patient and I think that applies to me as much as anyone else.”
Castle Park today hosts a Championship double-bill featuring Rotherham Titans against Moseley (1pm) and Nottingham versus Leeds (3.15pm).
