DONCASTER Toll Bar U10 threatened a remarkable comeback against strong Leeds side Oulton Raiders.
Both sides produced some excellent rugby but it was Oulton who emerged 16-10 winners.
The Raiders opened the scoring but this would spur Toll Bar on.
Strong running from forwards Sam Turnill and Lewis Laing led to Kieran Lawton receiving the ball and scoring an excellent try.
Oulton took advantage of a couple of errors in the early stages of the second half to establish a 16-4 lead.
Again this proved to be a shot in the arm for Toll Bar who showed excellent spirit.
Brad Simms and Adam Wright made in-roads in the opposition half and their endeavour was rewarded two minutes from time.
Ben Cox burst through the defence and produced an excellent offload to Lawton who crashed over in the corner.
Time ran out on Toll Bar’s comeback but their performance was certainly a pleasing one.
Toll Bar are back at home on Saturday when they host Batley Boys at 10.30am at Prospect Road.
