Dons star Mitch Clark played for six weeks with a broken wrist, it has been revealed.
Clark had surgery on the broken right arm he sustained at London Broncos in the club’s Championship Shield opener earlier this week.
But while he was in hospital it was discovered he had also broken his left wrist in a game last month.
Dons chief executive Carl Hall posted a picture on social media of Clark in hospital with a pot on both hands.
Hall, who admitted he expects former Penrith Panthers man Clark to move on at the end of the season, said: “It turns out Mitch has been playing with a broken wrist for about six weeks.
“It just shows you what these boys are made of.”
He added: “Mitch has been immense this season and wherever he goes next he deserves everything that comes his way. He has been a pleasure to have around the place.”
Doncaster host Featherstone Rovers in the second round of Shield games on Sunday. Should they fail to win, their impending relegation to League One will be confirmed.
