Carl Hall says Doncaster RLFC will not rush into appointing Paul Cooke’s successor.

Cooke’s three-year association with the Dons was brought to an end on Monday after a meeting with Hall, following the club’s disastrous losing run.

Former New Zealand international Hall addressed the playing squad ahead of last night’s training session.

He will take charge of team affairs for this weekend’s Summer Bash meeting with Hunslet Hawks in Blackpool and until a new coach is appointed.

Doncaster, rooted to the bottom of the Championship and without a win in 14 games in all competitions this season, are staring relegation to Championship One in the face. However, Hall insists the club will not rush into an appointment.

“We had no contingency plan in place because it all happened so quickly,” admitted Hall.

“We’ve advertised the position this week and we’ll wait and see who applies and take it from there.

“We’ve no preconceived idea of the type of coach we are looking for and we won’t be rushing it.

“We need to make sure we get the right man to take us where we want to be in the future and we are still looking at Super League.”

Doncaster face Hunslet on Sunday at 3pm.

The game is available to watch on Sky Sports via the red button.
