Chief executive Carl Hall insists the new-look Dons squad is raring to go for the start of pre-season training this week.
The Dons begin preparations for their assault on Kingstone Press League One and Hall says they have been promised a tough time in training over the winter.
“These players we’ve got wanted to get going three or four weeks ago – they’re that keen,” Hall said.
“They’re all young, keen and eager and looking forward to starting training.
“We don’t start properly until late February early March so there is a lot of time to do a lot of work.
“I’m pretty sure Pete Green, Andrew Vincent and the main man Gary Thornton will get them in great shape before we start.
“It’s going to be a tough, tough old season and we understand that.
“The boys are in next week, nice and early.
“And they’re in for a gruelling time, I can assure everyone of that.”
The Dons host Hull FC in a pre-season friendly on January, marking a continuation of the relationship between the two clubs.
Hall said: “I think Hull will be a force this season and we thank Lee Radford and everyone over at Hull for getting this game on again.
“We’re looking to do some big things this season and so are they so hopefully the partnership will go well again.
“To have them in a friendly is always good and they’re always competitive.
“It’s a great test for our boys.”
