The Dons have lost their last two league games and dropped to seventh in the standings.

But head coach Gary Thornton is hoping that the Dons can pick up from where they left off in the second half of their Challenge Cup defeat at Headingley a fortnight ago when they ran in five tries against Super League giants Leeds Rhinos.

“Not many Super League sides score six tries against Rhinos at Headingley let alone a League One side so we’ve got to take a lot of confidence from the game,” said Thornton.

“The team spirit was there for all to see and the lads have been really buzzing in training over the last fortnight and they are really looking forward to Sunday’s game.

“I’m hoping we can get back on track and kick on from here.

“It’s certainly a game we can’t afford to lose if we want to get back into the top-four, but I’m expecting a tough one.

“They have won three out of their first five, like us, but are above us on points difference.

“They’ve been struggling a bit in the halves with injuries and have had a similar problem to what we had last season, but they’ve got some huge forwards who take some stopping - especially on their home pitch.

“They’ve also got a bit of pace out wide so we’ve got to be on our guard because we slipped up when we played them in the iPro Cup last season.”

Leading scorer Kieran Cross (shoulder) joins star centre Liam Welham (broken wrist) on the sidelines but the Dons welcome back powerhouse prop Feka Paleaaesina.
