Paul Cooke is convinced Doncaster’s first Championship win of the season is just around the corner.

The Dons travel to Workington Town on Sunday having lost their opening two fixtures against London Broncos and Featherstone Rovers.

Player coach Cooke said: “If we get the same improvement in the small areas of the game that we got from London to Featherstone and we get the same improvement next week we won’t be far away again.

“We are a little disappointed as we should be with not winning the game, but to give ourselves an opportunity against one of the top two teams from last year bodes well for us moving forward.

“I’m proud of the players and proud of the efforts.

“I know it still shows zero on the points column, but we will get there. I’ll make sure we get there.

“With the way we came back at London and the way we stuck in there against Featherstone, I’m really pleased with the effort of the players.

“There are plenty of players that we have that aren’t playing that are worthy of a position at most Championship clubs, so we are in a decent position with numbers and quality.

“We will get over the line soon I can promise everybody that.”

On team selection, Cooke added: “The weather and tight pitch [at Workington] may mean that we change the team again.”
