TONY Miller’s in form Dons side eased past bottom club Gateshead Thunder to go third in Co-operative Championship One.

Kyle Kesik and Chris Spurr both scored two tries apiece as Doncaster moved comfortably through the gears to record their sixth straight league win.

After an even start it was Spurr who came closest to breaking deadlock on 18 minutes but Dons’ centre just failed to ground the ball after a quick break from playmaker Scott Spaven.

Just seconds later, however, Grant Edwards did successfully reach for the line and Spaven converted - and the hosts did not look back.

Matt Carbutt’s neat hand-off allowed Spurr to jink his way through for try number two on the half hour and Kesik latched onto Spaven’s kick for a third touch down just minutes later.

Rock-bottom Gateshead rarely threatened but they did not allow the Dons to run riot at the other end.

But second half tries from Carl Hughes, Kesik and Spurr sealed a resounding win for Miller’s promotion chasers.
