Tickhill leapfrog Doncaster Town after back-to-back wins
Tickhill recorded back-to-back wins in the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League as they edged a close game at Cawthorne by 10 runs.
The Alderson Drive club were in the box seat after posting 165 and then reducing the hosts to 84-7.
Tailender Josh Holling then went on the counterattack for Cawthorne but when he was run out for 49 the innings closed on 155 all out.
Earlier, stand-in captain Ross Diver had top scored for Tickhill with 63.
Royston Dias claimed 3-43 with the ball and also ran out Holling.
Back-to-back wins over Wakefield Thornes and Cawthorne have moved Tickhill above rivals Doncaster Town in the Premier Division table, up to eighth.
Town’s difficult season continued with a resounding nine wicket defeat at leaders Appleby Frodingham.
Bilal Anjam’s side have now lost eight out of 12 in the league this term.
Anjam showed plenty of determination to make 69 not out after Town won the toss and chose to bat.
But he ran out of partners and a total of 158-9 did not pose any problems for the in-form hosts.
Matthew Fowler (89no) and Jamar Ifill (50) led the title challengers to victory in 26.1 overs for the loss of just one wicket.
Town host Whitley Hall on Saturday, while Tickhill are at home to second-placed Treeton.
