Thornensians Lionesses require your vote to win £100,000 prize

The girls rugby club is through to the final of Persimmon Homes’ Building Futures – a £1 million scheme to support children's health, sport and education and the arts.

Lionesses have already won £1,000 after being named among several monthly winners in May.

Now they are hoping to secure enough votes to land one of three major prizes in the sport category – with a first prize of £100,000 for whichever finalist receives the most votes.

Second prize is £50,000 and third prize is £20,000.

"Please help us change the face of girls rugby in our club and in our area and vote for us in the Persimmon Homes final,” said Lionesses in a statement.

“We are an inclusive female rugby team that welcomes young people aged nine to 18.

“Our plan is to offer coaching sessions for girls in primary and secondary schools in our area as well as create coaching masterclasses.

“In addition, we will use the funds to upgrade and purchase new training equipment and recruit and train more coaches and players to meet our expansion plans.”
