A dramatic five-minute spell for the home team first saw Lara Jacobs find an unmarked Verity Blyth who fired low into the bottom corner.

Doncaster were awarded a penalty corner two minutes later and Ruth Thomas notched her first goal of the season with the aid of a deflection.

Less than a minute later excellent work in the middle of the park by Abby and Ellie O’Neill saw the ball threaded through to Fiona Rawlings whose shot was deflected home by Jay Noddle.

The ladies travel to Wakefield, who also have taken six points out of six, this Saturday (3pm).

Doncaster’s men, meanwhile, suffered a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Lichfield.

The visitors started strongly with Travis Cresswell scoring in the first five minutes from a penalty corner.

But Lichfield immediately levelled from open play and went on to win the game in comfortable fashion.

Doncaster host Barford Tigers on Sunday (2pm).
