Josh de Caires and Mark Cummins lead Tickhill to first win of season

Josh de Caires scored a superb century to help Tickhill to an impressive 45-run win over Whitley Hall.

Middlesex youngster de Caires struck 124 and shared in a 154-run second wicket partnership with Mark Cummins (71) to guide the home side to 260-8 from 50 overs.

Whitley Hall, who won last season’s shortened Jack Bland Trophy competition, posted 215 all out in response.

Cummins completed a brilliant all-round display by taking 5-35 from 15 overs.

Tickhill’s opening two Premier Division games have produced one win and one defeat. They travel to Wickersley on Saturday and Barnsley on Bank Holiday Monday.

Doncaster Town suffered their second successive narrow defeat at Barnsley as their batting unit again failed to fire.

Leg spinner Usama Mir (5-65) again impressed with the ball to help restrict the hosts to 192 all out.

Opener James Stuart showed plenty of determination in his knock of 65 but the innings collapsed around him from 81-2 to 90-7.

Stuart Guy joined Stuart at the crease and raised hopes of what had seemed like an unlikely victory by making 50 but Town finished on 173 all out.

Town host Hallam on Saturday.

Sprotbrough have two wins from two in the Championship following a 41-run victory at Conisbrough.

Daniel Wright top scored with 77 in Sprotbrough’s 274-9 before Scott Mantovani snared 5-69 to restrict the hosts to 233 all out.

Warmsworth posted 209, including 94 from Limar Pierce, to set up a 26-run win over Oughtibridge.
