Stuart took advantage of being missed early in his innings to provide the backbone of the home side’s 162-9 from their allotted 40 overs.

Skipper James Ward also weighed in with a valuable unbeaten 24, while Jack Forrester was the pick of the visitors’ attack with 3-28.

In reply Appleby Frodingham got off to a brisk start through Matt Morland (33) and Alex Grimes but the introduction of Stuart and Duncan Heath into the attack changed the game.

From 44-0 wickets started to fall regularly and Heath finished with 1-5 in eight overs against his former club. George Cowan claimed 3-47.

Tickhill, meanwhile, remain win-less as fellow strugglers Wickersley recorded their first victory of the season at Alderson Drive, prevailing by 67 runs.

Tom Knight led the way for the visitors with a fine 101 off 107 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes.

He added 112 for the fourth wicket with Dave Rodgers (52) to help his team up to 199-8 from their 40 overs.

Josh Court (3-50) and Alex Rowland (3-39) were the pick of the home side’s bowlers.

Tickhill got off to a poor start in response, losing their first three wickets for just 12 runs with only Mark Cummins standing firm at the top of the order.

Cummins added 50 for the fourth wicket with Scott Lowe to raise hopes of a much-needed win.

But those hopes evaporated when the opener fell for 44 and wickets fell regularly to Luke Roddison (3-30) and David Mace (3-48).

Max Davidson (21no) shone with a late cameo but the visitors were able to complete a comfortable win and consign Tickhill to a fifth straight defeat.

Doncaster travel to Wickersley this Saturday, while Tickhill go to Elsecar. Both games start at noon.

Sheffield Collegiate top the Western Group with five wins out of five.
