The feature contest of the day is the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap which carries a prize fund of £15,000 and features a number of talented prospects including Tinker Toy.

Doncaster’s feature race of the season is the St Leger, the final British Classic of the season which is set to be run on Saturday, September 12. Town Moor officials are also discussing the possibility of potentially having crowds in attendance at the St Leger Festival.

The ante-post market for the 14-furlong Group One event is headed by Irish Derby winner Santiago for Aidan O’Brien who is a general 5/2 shot. This weekend, the 3:00 Group Three Geoffrey Freer Stakes, a recognised trial for the St Leger takes centre-stage at Newbury. The 2017 and 2019 winners, Defoe and Technician both went on to compete in the final British Classic of the season.

Three of this year’s eight runner field could also make the trip to Town Moor in September. The Owen Burrows-trained Hukum is currently a 20/1 shot for the St Leger and bids to make it three wins from four career starts in the Geoffrey Freer. He was a gutsy winner at Royal Ascot last time out after which the St Leger was immediately earmarked as a long-term option.

Max Vega looked a smart prospect last season when bolting up in the Zetland Stakes at Newmarket. He has ultimately proved disappointing so far this term and was a well-beaten 14th in the Derby at Epsom on his latest start. He needs to rediscover his best form to win the Geoffrey Freer and is currently a 33/1 chance for the St Leger.

Tritonic does not feature in the St Leger betting, but is another improving three-year-old who has run two fine races in defeat at Royal Ascot and in Listed company at Hamilton respectively. There is plenty more improvement to come and he can make his presence felt at Newbury.

Back at Doncaster, the £15,000 Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap (4.00pm) us ultra-competitive and features the unbeaten Tinker Toy for Roger Varian. Successful over course and distance on his latest start, the son of War Front is impeccably bred and looks an exciting prospect for the Newmarket handler. He also benefits from a three-year-old weight allowance and is of serious interest. Marcus Tregoning has his string in fine form and Ghalyoon is an interesting contender. He won a novice event at Salisbury last summer and has since undergone wind surgery. He cost 300,000gns and is unexposed after just three career starts despite. 399-day layoff. Breanski has run a number of fine races in defeat this term and is another to consider along with top-weight Oh This Is Us who boasts winning course and distance form

The £10,400 Free Tips Daily On Attheraces Handicap (4.35pm) is the other feature race on the card which features a host of experienced sprinters. Evergreen 10-year-old Line Of Reason is set to have his 103rd start on the back of a good second at Beverley last time out. Fellow veteran Duke Of Firenze is now 11, but he finished a good second at Musselburgh last month and a reproduction of that effort would see him go close here. Top-weight Jonah Jones has been keeping better company than this and is interesting based on his second-place effort at Ascot in July along with the unexposed Yimou who has shaped with promise so far this term.
