Both teams started well, but it was Fylde who took the lead on 11 minutes.

Doncaster failed to clear the ball away from danger and it eventually fell kindly for a Fylde attacker who comfortably slotted home at the back-post to make it 1-0.

Doncaster went further behind on 18 minutes when a shot from just inside the area found the bottom-corner.

The visitors began to rally thereafter and were eventually rewarded with a goal on 22 minutes.

Fylde struggled to clear a cross into the area and the ball carried to the back post where Lara Jacobs, making her first team debut, was on hand to tap in.

Although Doncaster pressed for the equaliser, the Fylde defence was strong and disciplined.

The pressure finally paid off though on 54 minutes, when a excellent pass by Ellie O’Neill (pictured) found Lara Jacobs. After stepping inside the defender, Jacobs played a lovely weighted pass for Sarah Thorpe and she confidently lifted it over the diving keeper to restore parity.

Both teams went looking for the winner and had good chances, but spoils were shared.

They conceded an early goal in the first quarter but levelled the score just before half-time through Travis Burton.

Doncaster dominated throughout the second half but conceded twice from short corners.

Just before the final whistle, Burton scored again but it proved to be just a consolation as the home side ran out 3-2 winners.

This Sunday, Doncaster travel to Lichfield (1pm).
