The final Flat racing fixture on the turf at Doncaster Racecourse takes place this weekend with November Handicap day on Saturday with a belting eight-race card.

Racing gets underway at 11.45am as ten runners take on the apprentice handicap in class four before the card comes to a close four hours later at 3.45pm with the main event - the November Handicap.

The opening contest on the card sees ten runners tackle division one of the class four apprentice handicap over the seven furlong trip at Doncaster (11.45). Onemorenomore bagged his third victory at the track a fortnight ago and hasn’t been too badly impacted by the handicapper so is taken to go in again for trainer Philip McBride. Quest For Fun has been dropped by the handicapper off the back of a fifth over course and distance last time out and rates the chief threat.

Division two of the same discipline marks race two on the card (12.15) over the same trip and preference here heads the way of Capote’s Dream, who looks well-treated off a back-to-form second at Newbury on his last spin and can get his first win in 15 attempts this weekend. Of his eight rivals, the Mick Easterby-trained has been consistent all season, with wins at Catterick in April on heavy ground and placed on four successive outings since so there’s no reason he can’t figure very prominently again.

The Cock O’The North Maiden Stakes is the third race on the Doncaster card on Saturday (12.50) with ten runners set to head to the start for the six furlong sprint in class four as the two-year-old’s take centre stage. So Darn Hot was a very impressive second in a Yarmouth novice for trainer Kevin Phillipart De Foy last time out, sticking well to his task when pulling clear with highly-powered Godolphin newcomer so is taken to go one better this time around. Human, a hefty 260,00 Guineas yearling, is entitled to improve as well off a third at Newmarket on debut 17 days ago.

The £60,000 Listed Wentworth Stakes is up next at 1.20 and 11 runners will contest the six furlong sprint. Three-year-old’s Room Service and Zoum Zoum both graduate from handicap company into Listed company here, with marginal preference for Room Service from the Kevin Ryan team, who found the ground too lively in the Ayr Gold Cup in September but landed a massive career-best when second in the Coral Sprint Trophy at York last month. Zoum Zoum meanwhile was unbeaten as a juvenile and was very smart when landing a nine runner handicap over course and distance just over a fortnight ago.

A six-furlong nursery in class four is race five on the card (2.00) and that can go the way of Station X, who seems to thrive in the mud and left previous form behind when winning a Haydock nursery contest 22 days ago for the Bryan Smart team.

A good field of 15 will head to the stalls for the £45,000 class two handicap at 2.35 and this contest can go the way of Irish raider Two Stars, heading over to Doncaster from Tipperary for the James Stack team off the back of winning return following seven months off when landing a 130-runner handicap at The Curragh just last week and it has to be of note that connections have turned him out quickly again under a penalty here to attempt to bag £23,193 in prize money for following up.

The £60,000 Gillies Fillies Stakes is another Listed contest on Doncaster’s card and marks the penultimate race of the day (3.10). Trainer Ralph Beckett has saddled two of the last four winners of this race and he has another very strong contender this year with Treasure, a winner on her sole start as a two-year-old, useful in an Oaks Trial at Lingfield in May, and bounced back to form after some below-par finishes with a good second in a Newmarket handicap last time out. The John and Thady Gosden-trained Danielle is a clear danger, a more than acceptable sixth in the Group 2 Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot earlier this year and a runner-up in a Group 3 at Newbury a fortnight ago, bouncing right back to form after misfiring in a Listed contest at Newmarket in July.

Finally, the card comes to a close with the feature race of the day - the £70,000 Class 2 November Handicap (3.45). It’s a typically competitive renewal of the race this year and 23 runners look set for the off to bring the Flat season to a close at Doncaster. Miller Spirit is very much a runner of the ascent for trainers Gary and Jamie Moore, bidding for a four-timer this weekend after back-to-back wins at Goodwood and then Newbury last time out.A 7lb penalty is unlikely to deter the four-year-old and can go in again ahead of next best Flash bardot, beaten by the selection at Newbury who does have 4lb in hand over her rival this time around.
