He bids to continue his fine form with two rides at Doncaster on Friday for trainer John Gosden. The 10-race card on Town Moor gets underway at 12.15pm with the finale at 5.05pm.

The meeting is taking place behind closed doors and strict social distancing protocols will of course be in place for the meeting and the Racing Post have previewed all of the action with stats and analysis.

The feature event takes place at 3.55pm with the £10,400 Sky Sports Racing HD Virgin Handicap over 10 furlongs. Dettori, who has ridden 141 winners at Doncaster at a strike-rate of 18% during his career, partners top-weight Harrovian who made a pleasing reappearance when second in handicap company at Haydock earlier this month. The four-year-old progressed through the ranks last season and looks the type to do better as he gets older. Dettori partners Harrovian for just the second time and this looks a canny bit of placing from John Gosden.

Away He Goes travelled powerfully into contention at Newbury last time out but looked badly in need of the run when tiring to eventually finish fifth. The drop down in trip looks a good move for this 75,000gns and it would be folly to ignore his propensity for progression going forward. Jockey Ryan Moore also makes the journey to Town Moor on Thursday and partners the unexposed Ironclad in the same contest. A dual winner last term, which including a stylish success at Newmarket in July, he was not disgraced over 12 furlongs at Kempton in August. Gelded since and dropped back in trip for this reappearance the son of Dubawi is related to Mirage Dancer who blossomed as he get older and he is of major interest for trainer Hugo Palmer in this event.

Storting progressed nicely through the ranks last season, which included a smooth win at Pontefract in August and is another to consider along with Archie Perkins who looked in need of the run on Town Moor earlier this month. Elector was sold by Her Majesty The Queen for 70,000gns last season and has a first start for new trainer David O’Meara. The five-year-old landed a handicap event at Newmarket for the master of Freemason Lodge last season, but struggled in three subsequent starts. However, he may improve for the switch to new connections and is an interesting runner in this event.

Dettori’s other ride at the track again comes for Gosden aboard Magical Morning in the £5,400 Novice Stakes (2.55pm) over a mile. The beautifully bred three-year-old son of Muhaarar is related to Group Two winners Eagle Top and Wings Of Desire, both of which were trained by Gosden whilst Oaks and Irish Oaks heroine Sariska is also in the bloodline. Magical Morning ran on powerfully to score under Dettori at Yarmouth earlier this month and he looks an exciting prospect. He has to defy a penalty in this event, but looks capable of doing so. 140,000gns purchase Vega Magic is related to Group Three winners Oriental Eagle and should improve on the back of a gelding operation, whilst 375,000gns buy Winter Thorn shaped well on his debut at Kempton earlier this month. Dreamloper was a good fourth at Newmarket on her debut and is another to consider, whilst debutant Hydros is a son of the mighty Frankel and is a half-brother to Royal Ascot winner Sangarius.
