The Championship club launched the fundraising project at the start of May to help bridge the shortfall created by the coronavirus pandemic.

Castle Park remains closed for business and the club’s playing squad and majority of their staff were furloughed last month.

The amount raised now exceeds £27,000.

"We are truly overwhelmed by the response to the Crowdfunder appeal,” said a Knights spokesperson.

“The generosity from Friends of Doncaster Rugby is helping us bridge the shortfall caused by Covid-19 and will help us to continue to provide rugby for all once it is safe to do so - thank you!

“Every penny raised will fund essential maintenance and costs to ensure that the club is in the strongest possible position to operate once it is safe to do so.”

Supporters have also left a number of heartfelt messages on the Crowdfunder page.
