Danum Eagles have bolstered their National League squad with the addition of 6’7” forward Oliver Hylands.

Hylands represented Leeds Force in the BBL last season and registered an impressive 12 points and seven rebounds against champions Newcastle Eagles.

His acquisition represents something of a coup for the Doncaster club, who have designs on winning a second successive promotion following their Division Four title success last term.

Hylands said: “Choosing Danum Eagles was more than just playing for the men’s team.

“I like the direction that the club is going, everyone is so passionate and have big aspirations.

“Bob Martin has been leading the club in a great direction and I like the whole basketball community atmosphere that has been created.

“I’m excited to play with my former teammates Josh Metcalf and Tom Hodson again,” he added.

“They’ve both improved a lot since the first time we played together and I look forward to competing with them again.”

Hylands has previously represented the Bradford Dragons and Leeds Force at National League level, posting impressive averages in Division Three with Leeds Force and registering a career high of 44 points in 2013/14.

Eagles coach Ross Stafford said: “I think the fans that came to All Star Weekend can see exactly why Oliver was a priority for us.

“He showed his range of abilities and I’m really looking forward to coaching him this season.

“I think his consistency and versatility will give us an extra dimension on the court.”

Eagles lost just one game last season on their way to winning the Division Four (North) title.
