Here, we look at what happened next for every player that made an appearance in the memorable 2007/08 season. Part two will follow soon.
1. James Coppinger
2007/08 appearances: 43. Whatever happened to him? Coppinger thrived with Rovers in the Championship and, barring a loan spell with Nottingham Forest in 2012, he has been vital for them ever since. He remains with the club to this day, at the age of 39, having become the all-time leading appearance maker. Photo: Liz Robinson
2. Stuart Elliott
2007/08 appearances: 10. The Northern Ireland international midfielder's Rovers career never really got going and he left in January 2010 having made only 20 appearances in two years. He joined Hamilton in Scotland before returning to his native Belfast with Glentoran in 2012. Photo: JPI
3. Paul Green
2007/08 appearances: 41. The midfielder's Rovers career ended with the play-off final victory, closing a chapter that had seen him progress from youth team to winning promotion from the Conference, Division Three and League One with the club. He switched to Championship side Derby in the summer of 2008 and became a stalwart in the perennial promotion chasers, also earning international honours with Republic of Ireland. He joined Leeds United in 2012, spending two years at Elland Road. After two years with Oldham Athletic, he joined Crewe Alexandra and remains with the League Two leaders to this day. 4. Gordon Greer
2007/08 appearances: 13. Injury problems blighted the defender's two years at Rovers but his career went from strength to strength afterwards. He joined Swindon from Rovers in 2009 and captained the side to the League One play-off final, which he missed through suspension. He then joined Brighton, where he became club captain as they won the League One title and became a force in the Championship. After his release in 2016 he spent a season with Blackburn Rovers before returning to his native Scotland with Kilmarnock. He won 11 caps for Scotland during his career. Photo: Steve Taylor
