Town Field club to host hockey fun day

Doncaster Hockey Club are hoping to cash in on the interest in the sport generated by the recent televised European Championships.

Both the men’s team, captained by Doncaster-born Barry Middleton, and the women’s team, enjoyed successful tournaments and the club are hoping for a good turn-out for their Hockey Fest/Fun Day this weekend.

The event, to be staged at their Bennetthorpe base on Town Fields, will run from 1pm-5pm and is open to everyone of all ages and ability.

There will be various hockey-related activities throughout the afternoon, in addition to face painting, tombola/raffles and a BBQ and bar.

In addition to various coaching sessions throughout the week for both juniors and seniors, the club also run a popular mixed ‘Back to Hockey’ session every Monday at 7pm for people who wish to return to the game or who are new to the sport.

n Doncaster’s men start their Conference North campaign at Wakefield on Sunday.

Myles Rawlings has joined the club from University of Birmingham, but Tasmanian pair Vaughn Bowen and Travis Cresswell have returned home.
