Squash stars in town

DONCASTER Squash Club’s Steve and Ged Martin will have home advantage when the Italik Yorkshire Closed Squash Championships gets under way tomorrow.

The brothers, who both represent Yorkshire, face tough competition for the ‘A’ title from top seeds James Earles (Pontefract) and Alec Cutts (Hallamshire) when the tournament returns after a three-year absence.

The event will run from January 14-16 at the Town Fields club on Bennetthorpe.

Spectators are welcome.

Doncaster’s Ian Peach, Dennis Martin and Nigel Precious are also among the town’s representatives in the ‘B’ event for non-Yorkshire League players.
