Doncaster’s Graham Briggs was pipped at the post by Team Wiggins’ Christopher Lawless in the climax to the 2015 Yesss Tickhill Grand Prix.
Briggs was making a return to road racing after impressing at the recent Tour of Britain.
But the JT Condor star, from Rossington, just missed out to Wigan’s Lawless in a close finish to the Elite Men’s 1/2 race.
Connor Swift, of Moorends, finished fourth.
The Elite Women’s 1/2 race was won by Gabriella Shaw, of Pearl Izumi Sports Tours International.
Lichfield City Cycling Club’s Stuart Smith came home first in the Men’s 3/4 race.
Local riders David Clarke (Harworth & District CC), who finished 17th, Stephen Paterson (Doncaster Wheelers CC), in 23rd, Daniel Nortcliffe (Tickhill Velo), 24th, and Timothy Shelley (Doncaster Wheelers CC), 35th, rode well.
Becky Hoare (Army Cycling Union) won the Women’s 3/4 race.
The third annual Tickhill Grand Prix saw more than 450 riders take part and thousands of spectators line the streets of the village in support.
