A battling Epworth side claimed a losing point against top of the league Divas in their final match of the summer.
Despite the final day 24-13 defeat, Epworth are celebrating what is believed to be their most successful Doncaster Summer League campaign after finishing strongly in midtable.
Wednesday’s match saw energetic skipper Loraine Roberts lead her troops well against Divas who were powerhouses at the back.
At the other end Epworth’s defenders Erika Phoenix and Kirstie Hinds were well supported by Natalie Wright and Sam Croxall as they frustrated Divas and forced them into errors.
However, the league leaders’ superiority eventually shone through despite a full-blooded effort from the Isle club.
Epworth were awarded a point from the match having scored above half of Divas’ final goal tally - the first time they have ever taken a point off these opponents.
Epworth are now on their league break before their Autumn campaign begins.
