Motorcycling: Not the Day for Levi and James

Doncaster’s MotoBreakers Racing Team’s riders were at Brands Hatch with James Lodge and Levi Day contesting the National Superstock 600 Championship, writes Roy Cross.

After the two qualifying sessions Lodge and Day would start from fifth and 11th respectively for Sunday’s race.

Sunday’s 600 race started in drizzly, wet conditions with both Lodge (11th) and Day (15th) losing out on the first lap.

Lap two saw Lodge overtaken by Nick Anderson putting him in 12th spot - a position he held for the next two laps before overtaking Tim Hastings.

For the next five laps Lodge and Hastings battled it out, swapping positions lap by lap and with one of the riders in front running wide seeing Lodge in 10th.

Lodge was just half a second behind Hastings going into lap 10 but was being gradually caught by the Kawasaki of Peter Carr who eventually passed.

The penultimate lap saw him overtaken again putting him back into 12th and despite a huge effort on the final lap, Lodge had to settle for this spot just eight hundredths of a second adrift.

Levi Day had a disastrous race and gradually dropped down the field, finishing in 25th.

These poor results for Lodge and Day mean that they both lost out in the final championship standings, both dropping down a place and finishing in fifth and ninth respectively.
