Marchant runs out easy winner in Sandall Beat 10k

Paul Marchant (Rothwell Harriers) proved a runaway winner of last night’s Sandall Beat 10k Trail Race.

The vet-40 runner, who clocked 34 minutes 26 seconds, finished more than four minutes clear of the record field in the race organised by Doncaster Athletic Club.

Team-mate Jason Westmoreland (38.27) was runner-up with James Thompson (Kingstone Runners) claiming third spot in a time of 39.05.

Doncaster’s Kallum Silcox (41.15) took the honours in the Under-20 race.

Rothwell won the team (first three to count) prize.

Ackworth’s Rebecca Winter (41.43) won the womens’ race. The West Yorkshire club also won the team race.

Doncaster Athletic Club brother Joe Phillips (13) and Edward Phillips (10) claimed the top two places in the one mile fun run.
