Jason Cunningham has been urged to show he is the real thing when he chases a Commonwealth title shot tonight.

Manager and trainer Stefy Bull says English champion Cunningham has the potential to prove himself as the most talented fighter he has worked with.

But he insists the Woodlands bantamweight must take care of business against Isaac Owusu at the Dome tonight, in a Commonwealth title eliminator.

Bull said: “Jason is a very special kid. He’s the model pro and ideal to work with.

“He takes everything in and takes it on board.

“He came to us last year and barely used his jab but in just a few months we’ve been able to transform how he fights so everything is based off the jab.

“Jason has the potential to be a very good fighter, one that will win plenty of titles.

“He’s got some incredible opportunities ahead over the next few months. He’s just to take advantage of them.

“I’m incredibly excited about what he could do.”

Cunningham faces Ghanaian fighter Owusu tonight and is set to fight Ryan Farrag in a British title eliminator this summer.

Both fights represent a door to the top of the domestic scene for the 24-year-old former ABA champion.

But Bull is warning Cunningham not to take his eyes off Owusu who has a frightening stoppage record from his 23 wins in his 26 fight career.

Bull said: “You don’t stop 18 kids in 23 fights and not have something serious about you.

“It doesn’t matter what the standard of opponent is, that takes some doing.

“Jason showed when he won the English title that he can be pretty explosive himself so it should be a good fight.”
