Doncaster were held to a 3-3 draw at home to Conference North strugglers Olton and West Warwicks on Sunday.

The result leaves the Town Field men in sixth place in the table with five games remaining.

Second bottom Olton are three points behind Wakefield and in danger of having to endure the relegation play-offs.

However, the visitors proved to be tricky opponents, and a scrappy affair saw neither team really dominate for any significant period.

A nasty head injury saw Doncaster lose midfielder Tim Shelley midway through the first half and the hosts, who had scored through Alex Kerly, found themelves 2-1 down at the break.

The game came alive in the last five minutes as Doncaster came from behind to take the lead with just three minutes left.

Two penalty corner goals from skipper Matt Gibson put Doncaster 3-2 ahead, only for them to be denied by an Ed James strike with two minutes remaining.

Doncaster host Preston on Sunday (2pm).

n Doncaster’s promotion-chasing ladies recorded their third straight victory, winning 2-0 at University of Durham B, to stay hard on the heels of Northern Premier Division leaders Timperley.
