Katie Barnes scored twice as Doncaster Ladies’ Firsts earned a 4-0 win at Wakefield.
Doncaster started quickly as Barnes almost opened the scoring inside the first minute.
She did not have to wait long to get off the mark however as she netted after five minutes.
Wakefield were restricted to few chances but Doncaster were cruising and goals from Charlotte Dodds and Helen Karditsas ensured they had a three goal advantage at the break.
The second half continued in the manner of the first with Doncaster holding the majority of possession.
And they quickly added to their score with Barnes adding her second. Doncaster were unlucky to not add to their score.
The Ladies host Didsbury Northern on Saturday in a 12pm start at Town Fields.
The Men’s Firsts climbed to third in the early table with a 5-2 home win over Leeds.
Despite being in their first season of National League hockey, Leeds showed little inexperience as they started the brighter and took the lead through ex-Sheffield man Martin Sutherland.
Doncaster saw plenty of the ball but struggled for rhythm and were exposed on the counterattack on several occasions.
But they did draw level on 21 minutes when Josh Pettinger tipped in Matt Gibson’s cross.
Leeds went back in front when Danny Mills converted a penalty corner.
But it was Doncaster who took the lead into the break when a pair of penalty corner strikes from Gibson saw them turn the tables inside two minutes.
A slight tactical switch at half time handed Doncaster greater control of the game.
And as Leeds tired, Doncaster were able to exploit space.
The fourth goal had a youthful edge as 17-year-old Daniel West surged into the circle and found 16-year-old Matt White who fired in his first National League goal.
It proved to be a big blow for Leeds and only fine work from their goalkeeper Savvas Hajigeorgiou kept the scores down.
Hajigeorgiou could do nothing to prevent Pettinger firing in another penalty corner five minutes from time.
The Men travel to Bowdon on Sunday.
