City of Sheffield sprinter Kristie Edwards was in outstanding form at the English Age Group Championships at the EIS at the weekend.
In the 60 metres she came through the rounds easily and took the bronze medal in the final in a personal best time of 7.49.
She was even more impressive in the 200 metres beating a strong field with a fine run in 24.15. Chesterfield’s Ella Barrett was third in 24.49 but her sister Alicia was disqualified in the hurdles due to a false start.
There was yet another outstanding performance in the youngest age group from Hallamshire’s Tilly Simpson.
She completely dominated the under 15 800 metres winning by a huge margin in 2:09.11. This beat the previous championship best by over three seconds and is a new UK record for the age group.
With the gold medal in the bag, pole vaulter Adam Hague (Dearne ALC) was attempting a championship under 20 record of 5.42 towards the end of the meeting.
Earlier Abigail Roberts (Dearne ALC) cleared 3.90 to take the women’s under 20 title
Other medallists included - Under 15 Boys 60: 2 J Etia (Hallamshire) 7.35.
