Golf: Matterson among winners in Doncaster charity day

Doncaster Golf Club’s Charity Weekend produced some excellent rounds of golf as well as raising £2000 for charity.

The local charities were the big winners as Henry Matterson swept to victory in Thursday/Friday’s Stableford competition with 39 points.

On Saturday, the Betterball Stableford crown was taken by Rick Morris and Jon Neesham who both managed 43 points, and the Sunday Stableford was claimed by Andrew Banister with the same score.

The Men’s Monday Stableford was won by Mike Vickers with 37 points. Sharing second place with 36 points were Dave Gordon, Steve Edmunds, Paul Liddle and Thomas Ciullo.

Sue Sanderson won the Ladies’ Monday Stableford with 34 points. Maureen Appleyard (30) was second with Maria Clark (29) third.

The Ladies’ EG Medal 10 went to Carole Morris with net 68. Anne Moore (72) was second with Carole O’Neill (also 72) third.

The Saturday Niblicks Stableford was won by Kevin Coleman with 37 points. John Naylor (35) came second while third place went to Dave Fenton (34).

Tony Andrew won the Sunday Niblicks Stableford on countback from John Naylor, both having carded 37 points. Peter Scott (35) was third.
