TERRI Harper will fight for European Championship gold on Thursday night after reaching the 60kg junior final in Poland
The Denaby teenager guaranteed at least a silver after a comfortable 22-13 win over Polish national champion Grazyna Grygiel on Tuesday evening.
The 16-year-old is on her first outing for England at the fourth European Women’s Youth and Junior Championships in Wladyslawowo and making a major impression.
Her victory over Grygiel has been labelled an early contender for performance of the tournament.
Harper’s footwork and shot selection were lauded as well as her composure as Grygiel came forward looking to score.
A superb combination early in the first round rocked Grygiel and put Harper 6-3 ahead.
Grygiel was stunned again in the second with a superb left and the advantage widened to 14-6.
Harper continued her dominant show as Grygiel continued to push forward in the final round, securing the 22-13 win.
Earlier in the week, Ernie Oxer School of Boxing fighter Harper earned a 13-4 decision against Hungarian Daniella Posta to guarantee a minimum of a bronze medal.
