A few months ago Micky Davies had walked away from the ring.

But this weekend, the man known as Dynamite is out to mark his return with a bang.

A series of injuries and long working hours saw the Stainforth light middleweight lose patience with the sport.

But after a period of reflection, a fighting fit Davies says he has unfinished business in boxing and returns at the Dome tomorrow night.

“I went through a bad patch over the best part of a year with injuries, broken hands and broken ribs,” the unbeaten 29-year-old said. “I’d trained hard for six weeks for a fight and ended up having to pull out so I was downhearted.

“Plus I was working, moving house and I had a young un that I’d not seen much of since he was born because of training.

“I felt I owed him and our lass some time because they’d stuck by me.

“I had a rest, healed up and felt fresh. There was too much left in the tank and I know I’m good enough to win a title of some sort.

“Mentally now I’m as good as I’ve ever been so it was just about getting back to fighting fitness and I think I’m there.

“I’m ready to show people what I can do rather than just getting through fights or putting in laboured performances.

“I’ve never really had the chance to show what I can do.”
