Barry Middleton has been named captain of the Team GB hockey team for London 2012.
The Bessacarr-born star heads the 16 man squad for the Games with Britain tipped for a medal after significant progress in recent years.
Middleton is set to pass the 100 appearance mark for Team GB at the Olympics and currently stands as the sixth most capped player in the team’s history.
The 28-year-old will lead the team in Pool A against Australia, Spain, Pakistan, Argentina and South Africa with the top two sides reaching the semi finals.
