Danum Eagles scored a record 124 points to overpower Mansfield Giants and maintain their perfect record in Division Three.
Leading the way in the first half was starting guard Josh Metcalf, who stunned the Giants with six three-pointers on his way to 24 first half points.
The starting five poured in an impressive 35 points in the first ten minutes of the game.
However, a spirited performance from Mansfield left them within touching distance, scoring 27 of their own.
Some impressive play from the hosts closed the gap to just five points with four minutes left to play in the half.
After George Colwill nailed back-to-back three pointers, the Eagles went on a 20-3 run in just three and a half minutes to stretch the lead to 22 points at half time.
Tallying 70 points for the half, Danum set a new record for the most points in a half. They led 70-48.
That momentum carried into the third quarter as Doncaster continued to score with ease to lead by as many as 31 points with four minutes to play in the penultimate quarter.
A late run from Mansfield closed the gap to 25 points at the end of the third quarter, with Danum still leading 96-71.
Coach Ross Stafford rotated the team heavily in the final quarter, giving every player a chance to shine.
Five early unanswered points from Liam Knapp extended the lead to 32 points.
A valiant effort from Mansfield in the final quarter, netting five three-pointers, reduced the deficit to 22 points when the final buzzer sounded, leaving the final score 124-102.
However, the Eagles could not be stopped in scoring the most points ever in the senior team’s short existence.
Eagles host Newcastle-Under-Lyme Knights on Saturday in the league and Myerscough College on Sunday in the National Shield. Both games tip off at 2pm.
