DEFENDING champions Woodlands Park romped to a 208-102 Doncaster Bowls Association Saturday League Section A win over Rossington.
Woodlands had a remarkable five bowlers each winning 21-8 - John Richardson, Rob Harris, Shawn Laycock, Tom Boyd junior and Adam Jones - as well as Andy McIntosh (21-5) and Tom Boyd senior (21-6) as they retained the A Section trophy.
Dave Hopkinson (21-6) and Mick Cox (21-3) starred for Mexborough as they inflicted only the second defeat of the season (184-144) on Woodlands Park
Rossington beat Carcroft 195-155.
Carcroft could not maintain the momentum after Mick Corby (21-7) had given them a good start, and a 21-9 win from Mick Baker saw Pilkingtons Rec win the match 180-168.
Danny Ruffini and Trev Roper both won 21-7 for Eden Grove-Peglers in their 185-155 Section B win at Brodsworth
Askern beat visiting Adwick 193-172.
Peter Devine (21-9) was Rossington B’s best winner. in their 204-146 Section D victory over Pilks Pensioners.
John Lees (21-8) caught the eye for Bawtry B with a 21-8 win in their 177-154 victory at Harvesters.
Hexthorpe B were beaten 158-153 by visiting Rossington B despite wins from Dick Lindley (21-3) and Alan Marsden (21-8) as a 21-7 win from Jack Walker gave Rossington the match.
With both teams two players short, Bob Sisman’s 21-5 was not enough to win the game for Westfield Park B who lost 137-133 at home to Brodsworth B. Rossington B beat Harvesters 193-142 (corrected result)
*Andy Jones (21-8) was the hero for Woodlands Park in their 142-139 Midweek League Division One win at Armthorpe.
Despite only having three winners, Ivor Wilson’s 21-8 victory gave Pilkingtons Recreation the aggregate 155-141 win over Denaby.
Malby BC chalked up a 160-130 win over Armthorpe.
Last man Trev Roper (21-6) just failed to snatch a draw for Eden Grove-Peglers in their 144-142 Division Two defeat at Armthorpe B.
Brodsworth led by 34 points at the halfway mark thanks to Keith Haydon (21-9) and Barry Newbold (21-6). But wins from Carolyn Stewart (21-7), Reg Cuthbert (21-7) and Barry Binks (21-6) turned the Division Three match around for Bawtry, who won 126-124. Derek Morris won 21-4 for Harvesters, but Alan Burns (21-8) and Carol Raven (21-4) gave Adwick B a 133-123 Division Four home win.
*Irene and Bill Fletcher (21-6) starred for Adwick B in their 84-57 Doubles League Division Three win over Westfield Park B.
