IT will be all about bragging rights when Gavin McDonnell makes his return to action next weekend.

Local pride is at stake for the 25-year-old as he meets fellow Doncaster boxer Andy Roberts at Hillsborough Leisure Centre on May 28.

But McDonnell is also hoping to earn a result that will see him be able to walk with swagger when he returns to the gym.

The Dunscroft fighter is trained by Stefy Bull, whose professional boxing debut came against Roberts in 1995.

And McDonnell is determined to improve upon Bull’s narrow points triumph in that bout.

Bull said: “We’ve been having a bit of a laugh in the gym because Gavin reckons he can do better than what I did.

“I’ll be in for a bit of stick if he does, but he knows I’ll be waiting to give him some if he just sneaks through.”
